Terms of Use
Last updated 6 August 2026.
1. The agreement
These terms cover your use of the Lila Android application and this website. By installing or using the app you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the app.
2. What it costs
Nothing. Lila is provided free of charge, with every feature included. There is no subscription, no in-app purchase and no paid tier. We do not ask for payment details because there is nothing to pay for.
3. Your notes are yours
Everything you write in Lila belongs to you. We claim no ownership, no licence and no right to use it. We could not use it in any case, because your notes never reach us.
You are responsible for what you write and for keeping your own backups.
4. Backups and losing data
Lila stores your notes only on your device. Uninstalling the app, clearing its data, losing or resetting your phone, or a hardware failure will destroy them, and we cannot recover them for you because we never had a copy.
Use Backup & Restore, and keep the file somewhere safe. The app does its best to protect your writing - it saves continuously and keeps deleted notes for 30 days - but no software is perfect, and the only real protection is a backup you hold.
5. Acceptable use
Do not use Lila to break the law. Do not attempt to decompile, resell or redistribute the app. Beyond that, it is a notepad. Write whatever you like in it.
6. The app is provided as is
Lila is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will suit your particular need.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for any loss of data, arising out of your use of or inability to use Lila.
Since the app is free, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for it, which is zero. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, and if you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
8. Third parties
Lila is distributed through Google Play, whose own terms apply to that distribution. When you share a note as a picture, the app you send it to is governed by its own terms and privacy policy.
9. Changes
These terms may change as the app develops. The date at the top of this page will change with them, and continuing to use the app after a change means you accept it.
10. Ending it
You can stop using Lila at any time by uninstalling it. There is no account to close.
